Making stand out

Gopal’s mother went to men’s clothing store
As her son’s school day function was coming near
She used to haggle a lot before purchase
And her wrath shopkeeper had to face.

She wanted to buy a tie,
So shopkeeper displayed all that in his shop lie
But she went thorough all failing to make a decision
Then the shopkeeper asked what was the reason.

She said, “I want a tie that would make my
son among audience stand out,
And that is what I am out.”
“Ma’am,” he replied, “any tie makes the audience eyes stand out,
If you tie around your son’s neck tight!.”

The ever filled reservoir of the school teacher

Teachers in India like to impart knowledge
So their students can have an edge
Their Students are their pride
Whom they proudly remember when they retire.

Gopal was from a small town
Where he studied his childhood lessons
Now he had money, fame and fortune
And to show it to his teacher he returned.

To come along with him he requested his poor teacher
But teacher said it is not the rule of Mother Nature
He being here for many students like Gopal, can show way
As water flows but the river stays!”

In Search of God

Devotees throng to the temple
As nowadays they face problems ample
To pray to God and get it solved
And successes in life to achieve.

5 years old Gopal had class exams
So his mother took him to holy sanctum
When he asked her why should he go there
His mother replied, “God lives there.”

Near the temple a wise man was consoling a farmer
By saying, “Don’t worry with you God is there.”
Hearing this Gopal told his mother
“Then to see God let us go with farmer!”

Hey Ram!

Now it is ‘use and throw’ culture
And there is huge difference from the days of our Grandfather
Who owned wire-rimmed glasses and pen
Which could be proudly preserved till generations.

Things made today in our land
Doesn’t last even for a lifetime
Glasses meaning thin, fashionable contact lenses
Which could be used only till passing of that academic exams.

Gandhi said “means are more important then ends”
And through non-violence from British freedom for our country lent
But we now by making –“end is more important than means”,
Undoing the hard earned freedom’s good deeds!

The Way It Works

Although India has a democratic government
Few state government are corrupt
The complaints of the people
Is of no avail for elected representatives of the people.

A minister was on a visit to a town
To, one of his statue to unveil,
The road on his journey was filled with potholes
On the bumpy ride at his PA he smiled.

He said, “Today in this town by my statue,
I would be known forever,
So why to this potholes I should bother.
His PA replied, “But people here had made
you remembered forever,
By allocating the name to the largest pothole in your favour!

Between Online and the Real – Line

Gopal was looking for a bride,
He put parents advise aside
And registered in a matrimony site
Possessing beautiful wife in sight.

He received proposal in a bundle
And in it he started to fiddle
To choose one of the beauty
Who suggested to give gifts before
Meeting her was his duty.

Gopal sent valuable gifts
Thinking it was worth when her he meets
And went to her address as visitor
Only to face a male imposter.

Smart Rama

Rama was in 5th grade
But his intelligence none could trade
The way his parents he tried to evade
When results of his failure is displayed.

Rama always spent his time playing
And his home-work not doing
Telling his mother his subjects were easy
So for coming exam he need not be busy.

When exam results were announced
Except one, in all subjects he failed,
And seeing the report card when his father enquired,
“It is due to concentrating too much on one subject”, he replied!

Nobody has it so good as you had

You grew seeing first rays of Sun
And evening in your friend home;
Children nowadays live in make-believe world
Where TV's and video games comes to fold.

When you were child only if ill, you were sulking indoor
Today children has more excuses to stay behind door
-homework, computer or television
And holidays for next academic year preparation.

The future citizen are not prepared to face present realities
Becoming child prodigies with IQ score more than 150
Who later burnout and become 'natural and ordinary'
While you grew and live enjoying seasons splendid colors.

God’s Own Country

In a common place environment
Do we have room for beauty sentiment
As a train tramp entered the bogie
And started to play harmonium freely.

His trousers and cotton shirt were grimy
Protruding ribcage could be seen through un-buttoned shirt
But his fingers were finely formed
And naturally moved over keys with ease.

He exited from bogie without applause
After collecting a few coins from passengers
Does talents in born
Finds a place in our lawn to shine?

Agent 007

An insurance agent was hanging near a bank
Trying to sell insurance policies
As due to recession life was not that easy
So to make some money he was busy.

Suddenly he hears sound of bank alarm
And a man was running with a bundle of money
Holding a pistol and covering his face with mask
While other people were standing still with shock.

This agent caught hold of him with luck
And started fluently to talk,
"Now you come into some money,
In my policies why can't you invest some penny!

A Bit of Intelligence

Exams were fast approaching
And Gopal had started studying
He was determined to do well
So parents of his success to others could tell.

In his hostel he was studying in the evening
But his friend was trying to disturb him
He wanted him to play a game
So Gopal decided him to tame.

His friend said, “Ask me a question,
If I answer wrong, I’ll pay Rs50
And if you are wrong you pay only Rs5
For which Gopal with an idea came alive.

For his friends question without answering Gopal gave five
And asked his friend a question without solution,
Collecting from his friend fifty
Without disturbance Gopal went back to study.

Sweet taste of chillies

Home-work is hard to swallow
It is very hot for children
They fear their taste
And try to avoid it any rate.

They choose bright red apples
Which is sweet as playing
To spend their time with joy
Rather than hot chillies cry.

But parents and teachers preference
For the good of their future presence
To provide them experience for life
Since bright red chillies helps them to face problems.

The sweet taste of Hi-Tech Chillies

The super mommies with fat bank balance
In the malls maintain a 365-days attendance
Bringing up their Hi-Tech chillies
To exhibit quality of their product.

When their offspring dazzle in front of others
They smile to themselves with pride
From the day they started together
This is the only thing they are bothered.

They smile, laugh and chat
Which to their children progress relate
When their chillies make others sweat
They assume success of life they taste.

Sing Along With Me

A destitute musician was playing on street
Putting effort through his heart
He was so immersed in his performance
A large crowd had gathered giving him prominence.

A cop appeared on the spot
To gain superiority had a second thought
He tried to make known his presence
By demanding musician to produce his license.

The musician confessed that he didn’t have one
The policeman beamed thinking the battle he had won
He said, “Then you’ll have to accompany me”,
The musician shrugged, “ok, then sing along with me!”

Results of Father and Son

A politician was scolding his son
As in exam his grades had fallen
His son explained it was due to manual errors
And he was confident he had scored higher.

But his father after losing election
Was in no mood to listen
He tried to beat his son
While his wife came in between

She said, “My boy fared better than you,
Without blaming him leave,
As you lost deposit in electronic counting
But our son’s score has still chance of changing.

Just one line!

Gopal loves to be in center of attention
While attending whichever function
Stretching his luck as far as possible
With everyone he deals.

His wife was all smiles
When everyone was listening to Gopal’s tales
A foreign dignitary introduced himself
as Ambassador of the country
Gopal retorted he was Mercedes of his country

All the people in the function laughed
And Gopal’s wife coughed
As just one line from his mouth
Made him lose his elite status.

Busy World

An employee had an accident
While he was trying to go to a meeting in an instant
As there was heavy traffic
And his schedule was busy that week.

He was admitted to hospital
Where he was lying in bed bandaged
With his wife by his side
Who to all his friends informed.

Employee’s friends started to make call
And what he replied made his wife chuckle,
As he said, “The accident occurred while driving with mobile,
And he was ok, as nothing fortunately happened to mobile!”

Fear of H N virus

Swine flu was caused by H N virus
Which now in India a has made rapid progress
From city to villages
Causing fear in people of all ages.

Geetha’s 5 years old son was ill
So she decided to take him to hospital.
In a vehicle she took him to doctor
But into the room he refused to enter.

He was gaping at the hanging board
Geetha asked why he was worried,
He replied, “This doctor already has the virus,
As Dr. H.N. was his initial.

A Full Circle

Gopal the land lord of village
Wanted his son to be in center stage
So he educated him in city
Who settled abroad after marrying a pretty.

His son ate Mexican burritos and Italian pizzas
In huge joints and malls
Thinking he was embracing modern culture
And was growing in stature.

One day his six years old grandson while talking on phone
Came to know Gopal ate idle and dosa for breakfast
And to his surprise replied with joy, “So good it tastes,
I too here eat doses for lunch, dinner & breakfast!

The X&Y Generation

Young generation are catching the express train
Which moves forward not afraid of unknown
Getting in and out at unfamiliar platform
Taking the challenges by storm.

When train passes through tunnel
They close their channel
And when train moves into sunshine
With their talents they shine.

Meeting different people in their journey
They express their views openly
Moving on a fast track
Not knowing will ever they be back.
